Not the Perfect Dreamer is an ongoing multimedia project. These stories have been collected and produced as podcast episodes and short animated clips by Ray Grosser, as a capstone project for the Media Innovation, M.A. program at the University of Nevada, Reno.

In many ways, Texas’s conservative state government is leading the national movement to remove the fundamental rights of women, queer and trans people, immigrant families, and other historically marginalized groups. But many who have never been to the state don’t get to experience the uniquely disruptive power of Texan dreamers who are speaking up and fighting back.

Not the Perfect Dreamer aims to share the crucial stories of Texas dreamers with the rest of the country, and perhaps the rest of the world. As the next four years unfold and another Trump administration takes power in the United States, it is absolutely vital to listen, learn, organize, and join these voices in calling out injustices, in every level of government.

This project was made possible through funding from both the Center for Advanced Media Studies and the Graduate Student Association at the University of Nevada, Reno.
